Our Savior Lutheran Church and School has served the Washington D.C. and Northern Virginia areas for over 50 years. We are a congregation of over 600 members and are affiliated with the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. We offer many opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and serve the community both near and far.We are especially proud of our expanded Day School, which offers a Christian education for children in kindergarten through eighth grade. Our education program is accredited, and we offer one of the best values in private education in the Washington D.C. area. Some scholarship and tuition assistance funds are available.
Greetings from the Pastor:
FUELED FOR LIFE What is this a list of? Water. Bread. Books. Sunshine. Wind. Gasoline. Scripture.
This is a list of fuel! Fuel for the body, fuel for the mind. Fuel for plants to grow and electricity to be produced. Fuel for our cars. AND fuel for our souls!
16All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17that the CHILD of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
Scripture is fuel because it does what fuel is supposed to do: it gives you what you need to get the job done. Water and bread give the body what it needs to function. Books and information feed the mind and keep it active. And we’ve all seen a lot of discussion about the energy produced by sunshine, wind and gasoline.
Scripture, God’s Word, the Bible—that’s what provides the soul what it needs to have faith and to be able to serve God and neighbor. As we begin a new year of ministry at Our Savior Lutheran Church and School, we will focus on how we all are FUELED FOR LIFE by God’s Word! The exciting thing is that we will see together the many ways that WORD-FUEL is used in our hearts and lives!
We begin that discovery together in worship on Aug. 24th. At 11 AM we will commission our faculty and install our new teacher, Heather Fredericksen. Each Sunday this fall, as well as the many other activities shared in this newsletter are intended to be fuel for your soul! Please join us!
